How it works

From a new listing in Japan to an alert in your inbox in about 30 seconds

JPCardHunt is a price radar. It does not sell anything — it reads the newest listings on Japanese marketplaces, works out exactly which card is for sale and tells you when the price is below what the same Japanese card costs on Cardmarket.

1. We scan the Japanese marketplaces

We watch the three biggest places where people in Japan sell cards:

  • Mercari — the largest Japanese flea-market app. Most single cards are sold here. We check it every few seconds.
  • Yahoo! Auctions — auctions and "buy it now" listings, popular for expensive cards and sealed boxes. Checked every 30–45 seconds.
  • Rakuma — Rakuten's marketplace, smaller but often cheaper. Checked every minute or two.

Every listing is read once when it appears and again if the seller lowers the price — so price drops become alerts too.

2. We recognise the exact card

Japanese listing titles are written by hand, in many styles. We match them against our database of Japanese cards: about 16,032 Pokémon cards from 1996 to today and every One Piece card from the official Japanese card list.

  • Card number — the strongest signal: 201/165, SV2a 201, OP05-119, P-043.
  • Set, rarity and name — to confirm the number and to tell apart cards that share it.
  • Version — for One Piece, the parallel, manga rare, SP or Treasure Rare version of the same number.
  • Description check — if the title has no number, we read the listing description before calling it a deal.

If we are not sure, we don't show a price. A missing deal is better than a wrong one.

3. We compare with the Japanese price on Cardmarket

Cardmarket, Europe's biggest card marketplace, publishes a daily price guide. We use the price of the Japanese version of each card — never the English one, which is usually more expensive.

  • Average — the typical selling price (we take the middle of the trend, 7-day and 30-day averages, so one odd sale doesn't move it).
  • From — the cheapest offer on Cardmarket right now.
  • Yen are converted to euro with the daily European Central Bank rate. Japanese domestic shipping is added when the seller charges it.

4. We decide whether it's a deal

  • Below the lowest offer — cheaper than anything you can buy on Cardmarket right now. These are the real finds.
  • Below average — at least 20% under the average price.
  • You choose your own minimum saving — in euro, in percent, or both — in your settings.

We never show as a deal: graded cards (PSA, BGS, CGC…), lots and bundles of different cards, damaged cards, reserved listings, auctions without a buy-it-now price, and listings that are suspiciously cheap (under 20% of the average for single cards, 40% for sealed products) — those are usually fakes, empty boxes or mistakes.

5. You get the alert

Deals appear in the live feed immediately (with a 15-minute delay if you're not signed in). Add cards to your watchlist and we'll e-mail you or post to your Discord the moment one of them is listed — optionally only below your maximum price, and optionally including Yahoo! auctions.
