Cards from sets released only in Japan

What “Japan-only” means here

Most Pokémon and One Piece cards come out in Japanese first — but some products are made only for the Japanese market. High-class sets such as VMAX Climax, Shiny Treasure ex or TAG TEAM GX Tag All Stars never came out in English with the same card list, and many promo cards are handed out only in Japan: at Pokémon Center Japan, in magazines, at events and in shop campaigns.

Some cards from these sets were later printed in English in other sets, often with a different number or a changed design. Others exist only in Japanese. The label Japan-only set describes the set, not each card in it.

Why buy them from Japan

• They are sold in Japan, so that is where most copies are — on Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions and Rakuma.
• On Cardmarket there are often only a few offers, so prices in Europe tend to be higher.
• We compare every Japanese listing from these sets with the Japanese price on Cardmarket and alert you when it is cheaper.
• One alert rule covers them all: choose All Japan-only sets as the set in your watchlist.
